GDPR & Your Rights

Updated 7 September 2026

Who is responsible for your data?

Saracen Commercial Contracting Limited, trading as HGV Consult, is the data controller for personal information collected through this website unless otherwise explained in a specific policy or notice.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information. This page explains how to exercise rights under UK data protection law.

Which laws apply?

We process personal information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable privacy laws.

What rights do you have?

You may have the right to:

Access and correction

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete details.

We may need reasonable information to verify your identity before sharing personal information. This helps protect privacy and stop personal information being disclosed to the wrong person.

Deletion and restriction

You can ask us to delete information or restrict how it is used in circumstances covered by data protection law. These rights are not absolute. We may need to retain some information where there is a legal obligation, a legitimate interest, a contract need, or a dispute or claim that still requires the information.

If we are unable to fulfil a request in full, we will explain the reason and the relevant legal basis for retaining the information.

Objection and portability

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests where you have a particular reason and it affects your rights and freedoms.

You can object to direct marketing at any time.

Where the legal conditions apply, you can ask for information you have provided to us to be provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or transferred directly to another organisation.

Withdrawing consent

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. For example, CPC holders may withdraw consent to us retaining their details for opportunity contact.

Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before the withdrawal.

How to make a request

Send your request by email to hello@hgvconsult.com. Please include enough information to identify the relevant records and tell us what you are asking for.

You do not need to use a special form to make a request. You may also write to the registered office shown on our Terms page.

We normally respond without undue delay and within one calendar month, unless a request is unusually complex or we receive a number of requests at the same time. If extra time is needed, we will explain why.

We will not normally charge a fee for a straightforward request, but we may charge a reasonable fee if a request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive.

How long do we respond?

We aim to respond as quickly as possible and ordinarily within one month of receiving a valid request. In some circumstances, the law allows us to extend that period, for example where a request is complex or we need more time to verify the identity of the person making the request.

Concerns and complaints

Please contact us first if you have a concern about how your personal information has been handled. We want to investigate and resolve issues where possible.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection matters.
